Comments:
My parents moved to Connecticut after 8th grade, but returned to the suburban Chicago area (Clarendon Hills) two years later. I attended Hinsdale Central High School (remember walking out of school on one afternoon and seeing Dan F. throwing warm up pitches for the visiting York team--knew who he was from 50 yards away) and Northern Illinois University.
Came out to Nebraska for law school immediately fell in love with the area; think it had something to do with the fact that there was a hot air balloon race starting in Lincoln day after I arrived.
I graduated law school, got married, and started up a private legal practice in 1982. My wife developed MS in 1991, and continued to work for six years thereafter. The cost of carrying health insurance became prohibitive, so I closed my private practice and became a Staff Attorney for Nebraska Advocacy Services, a non-profit agency which is mandated to provide protection and advocacy services for individuals with disabilities throughout the State of Nebraska. Retired at the end of March, 2024.
Next steps: Sell my house, buy a camper-van, and travel.
