First, I'm so happy you found me, as I've really enjoyed getting reacquainted through this site! It's amazing how many memories have come back...and how connected we can be - even though I haven't lived in Elmhurst since 1978. Thanks to Jim and everyone else who put this together, stalked people on FB, etc.

I was unable to make it to the reunion, as I already had commitments....but would have loved to attend. Fr. Bill O'Shea - IC parish priest from 63-67 - is a good family friend and was here visiting from Chicago. He loved the idea of the reunion, thinks he would remember some of my classmates. He came to MN to marry me and sibs, baptize our babies, perform funerals, etc. He joins us on our vacations and family reunions. His trip here was established before I knew about the reunion. I'll post pictures of him and tell him about this website.

Ok, this time with a bit more detail... My dad died in 1984, and a year later my mom sold our house on Claremont and moved to a beachside condo in Marco Island, FL. She lived there for 20 years, until she died. Of the six kids, only one is in the Chicago area - Bob, is in Evanston. The other five of us live in the Twin Cities. Three of us are in the same parish and zip code! My ties to Elmhurst are limited but love being so close to sibs, nieces and nephews!

I've worked as a paralegal since 1979 - mostly for my brother Jim (for 24 years), then free lance and now part-time at a small office four blocks from home. In 2002, I started a jewelry making business, using mostly beads. I sell at shows and word of mouth. I'll let you know when my pieces are for sale on etsy - soon!

I met my husband on a blind date and we were married 8 months later. We've been married 20 years. He's an architect who specializes in designing golf club houses. Our daughter (one and only) is 16. She goes to Cretin-Derham Hall HS in St. Paul, similar to Montini - Catholic, progressive, leadership and service oriented...

As a family, we play golf, watch the Packers and the Twins, hang out with extended family a lot, go to the BWCAW to vacation several times a year (yes, even in the winter)... We miss our trips to the Marco beach, but have been branching out to other venues!

I enjoy playing golf, gardening, biking, walking, roller blading, x-c skiing, cooking, being social, celebrating my Irish heritage, volunteering...

I'll post pictures soon.

School Story:

1st grade - Mrs. Foley - Jeannine Roesch's birthday party and being afraid of her Dachshund!

2nd grade - Sr. Damien. She gave me a rosary for helping her one day. I thought she was nice, but really curious about the wimple.... Got spanked by the principal - Sr. Clementine - for using 2 paper towels in the bathroom - so wasteful!

3rd grade - Mrs. Stringini. The iguana. Making mother's day planters of sweet alyssum - the room smelled so sweet. I still like the smell.

Blue Birds/Camp Fire girls - Mrs. Srch taking us to an orphanage to sing Christmas carols - with probably 10 kids in the station wagon - crying all the way home. The homemade crafts, Christmas ornaments, paperweights, pencil holders...

4th grade...hmmm - Camp Fire Girls winter camping - ice skating on a frozen pond pretending I was Peggy Flemming - could see frogs frozen in the ice.

5th grade - Mr. Sible. The constant feuding between he and Mrs. Sauntry. Memorizing "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer...I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree.... Memorizing "A Transitive Verb"...is a verb that expresses action, that passes from a do-er to a reciever, that's a transitive verb... to the tune of Happy Birthday. I'm still petrified to sing, even in a group.

6th grade - Mr. Nash. Having fun and playing cards. Each math group having a name. I was in Nashed Potatoes.

Being told that I was going to Sandburg and thinking that I would probably be raped in the hallways - being that it was a public school!

General - walking home for lunch. The square milk cartons with the round hole on top - always smelled a little stale. Ice skating at Wilder Park. Boy-girl parties in Karen Schlipper's basement.
Sleepovers at Gail Grunwald's. Henry the crossing guard - on Cottage Hill. The polyester blouses with wool jumpers and acryllic sweaters - being so HOT in the spring and fall. Trying to stay awake during the Stations of the Cross.
